Background of water transfers to Southeast of Spain such as Negratín-Almanzora connection

Abstract
Water scarcity in the region of peninsular Southeast, where the border area between the provinces of Almeria and Murcia falls, forced to seek and bring foreign resources to meet their needs water supply and irrigation. Exhausted own water resources in the basins of Guadalentín and Almanzora, supply water of Castril and Guardal rivers, tributaries of the Guadiana Menor in the Guadalquivir basin arises. There are a number of reports and projects to carry out these transfers, among which the OPINION of 1942 for the use of the waters of the rivers Castril and Guardal; Draft General set the development of water resources in Central and Southeastern Spain: Tajo-Segura Complex (1967); Feasibility study and transfer flows Negratín Reservoir in Granada, the Cuevas del Almanzora in Almeria (1989). These transfers will not be a reality until 1979 for the Tajo-Segura and 2003 for Negratín-Almanzora connection.
