Abstract
This paper aims to clarify the origins and evolution of the Geography of Soils through a literature review. We want to bring novelty in a discipline still without a specific and comprehensive bibliography to study trends both historically and currently. Our aim is to show that the Edaphogeography (discipline that studies the causes of soil distribution in the territory) can hold, for his theoretical and epistemological basis, as a strong and independent branch of Physical Geography, the same level as the Geomorphology, Climatology, Biogeography or Hidrogeography, from which it participates and provides valuable information.
