Abstract

Foreigners arrived to 22 Axarquía small rural municipalities (Malaga province) have been a determining factor affecting the evolution of their population in the 2003/2017 period. These immigrants are mainly from the European Union, they are aged, and assimilable to the group of immigrants with primarly residential motivations.

Based on statistics obtained from the Estadistica del Padron Continuo, referred to population entity, in this paper we show that the dynamics of spatial distribution are different according to the population group considered: increase of the spatial dispersion of the Spaniards between 2013 and 2017 -with maintenance of the situation between 2013 and 2017-; and increase in the concentration of foreigners from the European Union in the period 2003/2013, with relative deconcentration between 2013 and 2017.
