Abstract

This work tries to explore the relationships between what we call «individual and familiar psychic helplessness» and the possibilities of dealing successfully with family violence situations.

This concept refers to risk factors that affect the normal development of the personality generating a state of psychic defenselessness as a result that reproduces from generation to generation.

It has been established the relationships between indicators of social vulnerability, particularly the social capital of a community, understanding that this factor is directly related to the possibility of changing adverse situations such as family violence.

This research was carried out in the south of Cordoba City, in two areas highly vulnerable from the point of view of material and human resources, but with different levels of social capital.

In this context, previous analysis of the contributions from other researches that have been done, we evaluated the social capital of the areas analyzed and we related it to the communities’ possibilities of facing successfully family violence problems.
