Delocation of the urban and impact on the rural space:rurbanization in «dormitory towns» of Cáceres capital
Main Article Content
Abstract
The dynamics generated by the cities exceed their own borders, transferring part of their urban growth to their area of influence. Small-scale cities, such as Cáceres, project a shadow that significantly affects their immediate rural environment. The dispersion and multiplication of dwellings in the undeveloped land of small rural municipalities compromises the sustainability of the settlement system. The objective of this study is to characterize in a theoretical way the particularities that a general phenomenon like the rurbanization has in this context, and to measure the influence that has the presence of a city in the changes experienced in the rural environment. For this, the analysis must also quantify and locate the isolated and dispersed buildings in the countryside. The cataloging is complemented with a study of the legislation and the urban planning, as well as a temporary audit of the problem. The combination of all variables (legal, environmental, demographic, etc.), including spatial, is done with the Geographic Information Systems’ help. In this way, it is discovered that most of this urban growth, besides being transferred, is irregular, uncontrolled and is located outside the urban and developable land of rural municipalities.
