Abstract

In regions such as Murcia, has been a great interest in certain spaces and order condition for obtaining salt. This planning has created their own landscapes: the saltworks, distinguishing between coastal and inland. The working methodology has allowed us to locate, describe and explain almost thirty saline throughout the Region of Murcia. Some continue to function since Roman times as the Principal in Jumilla, others with salt mining are also legally protected wetlands (San Pedro del Pinatar on the coast and Cabezo de la Rosa and Rambla Salada in the interior), but most are in the process of abandonment. It is urgent plan to bring this rich heritage value of the Culture of Water and Salt, thereby generating sustainable management of saltworks landscapes.
