Abstract

The country planning in Aragon has passed from being regional planning to be con- sidered also as physical planning. This double goal is expressed in the 1992 law. The new country planning law 4/2009 introduced, together with the «comarca» base, the importance of the sustainability. Among the typical instruments of the country planning, the planning instruments differ from the management ones. The main contribution of the Geographic Science to the planning instruments consists in the definition of the town system as the base of the equipping plan and the demarcation of its influence areas, on which the Law 8/1996 of «Comarcal»Demarcation is based. Cultural Parks stand out as a formula of heritage protection focused on country planning, among the instruments derived from rules related to country planning (townplanning, environmental and heritage). Aragon has been pioneer of this formula with the help of geographers.
