Main Article Content
Abstract
The goal of this article is to take stock of the presence of French geographers in Spain since the 19th century. This work partially carried out at one time by other authors, supposed the inventory, on the one hand of partial works already undertaken, on the other hand, of researchers and institutions engaged in research particularly after the Second World War. This systematic search revealed the importance of works undertaken by the French, before and after the war. The high point of this presence, without any doubt, took place during the 70’s and 80’s with a decline which really began only in the last decade of the 20th century. This surge, encouraged and supported by the School of the Hispanic and Iberian Advanced Studies (Casa de Velázquez), decreased without any doubt and the French presence changed in nature with, at the same time, a less exclusive vocation in Spain and a greater diversity of themes, in accordance with the trend of the last decades.
