Abstract

This paper is based on a research experience with more than 20 years in order to consolidate a methodology of inventory and biogeographic evaluation for whole sort of plant landscapes in the world. During this period of time, this methodology has been applied to several ecosystems located in many places such as: Iberian Peninsula, Scandinavia, Balkans, Chile, Nicaragua, Brazil. As a result of a previous research in 2015, we reached maximum score for a particular sort of vegetation: The Mediterranean forest of palms in Chile, using this methodology, therefore this paper has focused on other two populations of Chilean palms (Jubaea chilensis) placed in the Southernmost zone of its corology. This methodology employs a systematic inventory of several plots in juxtaposition with an evaluation of an ensemble of environmental and landscape criteria (e.g. wilderness, territory, culture, management, hazards, etc). The results confirm high general values again. However, these figures do not reach those recorded in Valparaiso and Viña del Mar. Nevertheless, several criteria such as territorial or mesologic keep high scores. The population of Candelaria shows best results natural, cultural and structural while Botalcura, due to the degree of threat, presents a high final value.
