Application of the principles of strategic tourism planning. Analysis of a process of scale

Abstract
Strategic planning has become a valuable tool for public tourism management. This paper uses a qualitative and quantitative methodology based on theoretical analysis and the design of evaluation documents that analyse the degree of compliance with the principles of strategic planning of Tourism Strategic planning.
This analysis is carried out on a regional scale for the five Plans that have been undertaken in the Region of Murcia between the years 1996 to 2015 providing information, and always according to the classification previously made, on their representativeness in each of the habits analyzed. As well, its typology, process of configuration and degree of fulfillment of the principles of the planning in each one of the documents studied. The analysis of these planes provides information on the deficiencies in the development of the principles of planning and the need to review the process of setting up these documents.
