Abstract

International immigration during the first ten years of this century is very unevenly distributed in Spain, concentrating on a limited number of provinces and contributing to increased regional imbalances in the distribution of the population. But it also got that negative sign of demographic developments in the regions of greatest atony is tornase positive and despite being a less studied aspect has a relevant interest as the only explanatory factor of current economic situation. Its final consequences can not be quantified only by analyzing flows or the numbers of foreign residents, but it is must also consider the spanish nationality concessions and the birth rate incidence in later years. In effect, in the six regions studied (Asturias, Cantabria, Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha, Extremadura and the País Vasco) the results show an effect substantially greater than the deductible from mere migratory balances.
