Planning and supply management of drinking water in urban-tourist villages of Alicante

Abstract
In urban-tourist villages, water supply management is one of the most important services for the development of the tourism as residential, hotel and leisure activities. The aim of this research is to know and analyze how water supply companies planning and manage this service in the coast of Alicante and how they are implicated in the land and besides, how is the value of water scarcity in this province. Methodologically it has been done different interviews to the managers and technicians of these companies for understand the management of water supply. Some conclusions are the increase of the efficiency of the service and therefore the water saving and the good practice about this resource. Moreover, it is important to highlight the strategic work that these companies are doing with supply water to the population, especially in residential developments that have been built before the start of the service, resolving problems about quantity and water quality.
