Abstract

The agricultural landscape is one of the most representative ones in Castilla y León, the largest region in Spain, with a significant agricultural component in the economic, social, cultural and territorial aspects.

In the case of Castilla y León, the growth of rainfed cereal acquires remarkable representation due to the extent that it presents. Aiming to extend studies by other researchers, as well as to provide a new vision of this type of landscape, we will used for the development of this research paintings by a series of artists from Castilla y León during the second half of the twentieth century, which have faithfully reflected the landscape of dryland cereal so characteristic of this space.

These works will allow us to see the transformations over time in the countryside of the River Douro, the structure of the parcels, the terrain in which they sit and its surroundings, the most characteristic architectural constructions, as well as the farmers, all elements contributing to providing the representation of one of the most significant agricultural landscapes of Castilla y León.
