Abstract

The work of the writer Josep Pla (1897-1981) is characterized by the landscape as one of its key topics. On this basis, we have analyzed, the relationship between literature and geography, between the written word and the image created, by taking his book Cadaqués (1947) as a reference. A set of literary figures of speech allows the link among written words, reality and imagination. In the paper we present an ensemble of texts grouped by the level of approximation to reality, in which we deeply analyze the specific literary figures of speech used to create the landscape images. Our purpose is to find out how the literary images create a landscape that goes beyond reality by communicating experience.
