Abstract
In this paper, we offer the results of research about the economy of the Albaicin, historic district and core of the originating town of Granada, which in 1984 was declared World Heritage by UNESCO. We try to answer some questions about the economic activity in the district, its relations with Granada and the activity of its inhabitants. At the same time, we suggest that some problems have arisen in the context of the study, the presence of a out of time social representation in the Albaicin economy, the meaning of the economy in historic districts, and the form in which this district relates with the city.
