Abstract

Spain has been traditionally country of emigrants, in the last intercensal period, 1991-2001, is appraised an important increase of the opposite phenomenon: sometimes massive foreign immigration. This phenomenon is shown up the statistical information gathered in the Censuses of Population and Houses of the mentioned intercensal period, from whose data this study has been elaborated. Carried out the statistical and cartographic analyses in the Aragon region reveal the repercussions that the migrations as a whole and foreign immigration in particular, have had on the demographic structure of the population. In most of the region a significant relation between the migratory balance and the selected indicators of demographic structure is still not perceived. Nevertheless, the greater proportion of foreign immigrants is significantly associated (p< 0,05) with the reduction in the Indices of Aging and Dependency and with the increase of the Rate of masculinidad. The implementation of the information in the SIG Arc View 3,3 allows us to examine the space patterns of behavior of the variables and the analyzed demographic relations.
