Abstract

Migratory movements involve demographic changes, not only for the host nation but also for the home country. These movements have influence on the economy, policy and society in both countries. In this paper I am going to describe some demography transformations in Spain, taking the variable «registered marriages in which one of the spouses is a foreigner». To introduce the topic I have taken as point of reference four different regions: Cataluña, Madrid and Andalucía as the most representative cases in Spain speaking about immigration and Galicia as an example where the phenomenon is just beginning. Some authors have used the variable as integration indicator to analyze immigrant adaptation in our country. This paper is not a deep discussion about integration, it is an statistical analysis about immigrant marriages in this country as a multicultural factor. Through this variable we will know the immigrant’s marriages.
