Abstract

The present article refers to the social impact of internal migration in Havana of nineties of the past century. It`s taking into account the structure by sex and age, racial and work, according to the place of origin of immigrants, given by analysis of the possible influence of the same citizen in the environment, either by introduction of the habits, customs or modes of behaviour outside the city, as well as the housing characteristics, elements that contribute to spatial differentiation of the Havana social environment. Those elements, in the current economic crisis conditions, contribute in turn to the exacerbation of social problems, employment and basic services in the city.

The analysis of this problems is based on the results of National Survey of Internal Migration of 1.995, as well as in various research findings on this subject, both obtained by Center for Demographic Studies at the University of Havana and the author himself.
