Abstract

This article analyses the demographic behaviour of medium-sized cities in the interior of Andalusia, between 2008 and 2018, with regard to the processes of ageing and depopulation. A quantitative methodology has been followed, which has made it possible to group the fields of study by ranks. The results obtained make it possible to corroborate the initial hypotheses: first of all, to affirm that the average Andalusian inland cities, especially as a result of the economic crisis, have negatively accentuated their situation with regard to the processes of demographic ageing and depopulation that had already been observed for previous years in the rural villages; and secondly, that they which have managed to attract investment, both public and private during the period of recession, have seen a reduction in the loss of population and have maintained their demographic growths.
