History and Relevance
The Electronic Journal of Criminology was founded in 2019 as a new academic dissemination platform, consolidating a specialized space in the criminological field. Its origin is linked to the Electronic Journal of Criminal Science and Criminology (RECPC), one of the most prestigious publications in criminal and criminological sciences in the Spanish language. The creation of REC responds to the need to differentiate areas of study, reserving RECPC for works on Criminal Law and Criminal Policy, while REC focuses exclusively on Criminology.
In its first year, REC adopted a biannual publication schedule, which allowed the constant dissemination of relevant research to the academic and professional community. Starting in 2020, the journal established an annual publication, ensuring the continuity and quality of its content. Since its launch, REC has made a significant contribution to the development of criminological knowledge, providing an essential forum for debate and reflection in this ever-evolving field.

REC is aimed at researchers, teachers, advanced students, and professionals interested in the study of crime, delinquency, and criminal justice.
