¿Por qué no me ven? Análisis de las notificaciones de sospechas de maltrato infantil a nivel nacional

La notificación de sospechas de maltrato infantil constituye una obligación legal y un primer paso para conectar a las víctimas con posibles fuentes de apoyo especializado. Sin embargo, no todas las víctimas parecen ser igualmente detectables a los ojos de quienes deberían protegerles. El presente estudio analiza las 15.365 notificaciones que figuran en el Registro Unificado de Maltrato Infantil para el año 20191. Se analizan las características de las sospechas notificadas y se testean si el sexo y la gravedad del maltrato están asociados con el grupo de edad al que pertenecen las potenciales víctimas, el tipo de maltrato reportado y el ámbito de procedencia. Los resultados muestran que el abuso sexual se notifica más entre las niñas que entre los niños y la negligencia entre los niños. Las fuerzas y cuerpos de seguridad tienden a notificar más casos de niños que de niñas, al contrario que el ámbito de la salud. Finalmente, los maltratos en edades tempranas y los abusos sexuales tienen tendencia a ser notificados cuando son graves. Se comentan los resultados a la luz de estudios relacionados con la temática, proponiéndose líneas de actuación y reflexión.
