Abstract

This paper sets out to turn the spotlight on the heterogeneity of approaches that are perceived in the field of sociocriticism. beyond  its funding principle that lays the emphasis on the social dimension of the literary text, this theory lends itself to different orientations. The argument draws on a threefold perspective, based on the most popular approaches, those of Claude Duchet, Pierre zima  and Edmond Cros, with reference to works pertaining to african literature in English language.
