Main Article Content
Abstract
The objective of this paper is to introduce, expose and analyze the original experience of pacifist empowerment of the Yaqui tribe of Sonora, Mexico; based mainly, but not only, on the expression in the Yaqui language «Námakasia» taken as a collective firmness which synthesizes and reflects its social value as an alternative peace practice in the face of adversity. Here we propose the use of the theoretical framework and the methodology of the Studies for Peace, specifically «the Imperfect Paces», with the axes of the so-called «unitary matrix» proposed by Muñoz and Molina (2007). The result reflects, according to the matrix used, that the Yaqui tribe empowers and builds peace, even imperfect, in the northwestern region of Mexico based on its cultural uniqueness and resilience, which is synthesized in the word «Námakasia», or firmness.
