Abstract

The main goal of this research study is to analyze what is the roll of social capital in conflicts resolutions, peacebuilding and creation of development process. To achieve this goal, on the one hand, we have done research and analyzed all the works and studies who have been done in the last years around the concepts of social capital, conflict and development and, on the other hand, we have applied this theoretical knowledge to the special case of Nicaragua, doing a broadly fieldwork, since in this country exits a broadly number of historical factors which made this application very interesting.

In the last part of this work, as conclusions, we provide some guidelines to promote social capital work in conflict resolution, peacebuilding and development process in Nicaragua, guidelines which would be necessary to take into account if we really want development actions in the country to be effective and successful.
