Abstract

This research work is focused on school behaviour management and is part of a research line which deals with education for peace.

The aim of the work is to shed light on some teaching practices which promote peace and a good behaviour environment in schools.  Information was gathered by means of structured interviews in ten schools, members of the Andalusian network of schools called “Schools: a place for peace”, in the province of Granada. The interviews dealt with the implementation, development and evaluation of school strategies which foster:  group cohesion, democratic management of rules, values education, socio emotional skills and a peaceful resolution of school conflicts.

From the analysis of these interviews it can be concluded that there are certain strategies and practices in schools which promote good behaviour.  The need for a cooperative effort among all the actors in the teaching environment, and the importance of a systematic and institutional approach to all practices which promote culture of peace are some of the conclusions reached in this work.
