Abstract
This paper reflects some contributions of the research conducted by Esperanza Hernández Delgado in the frame of the Peace, Conflict and Democracy Doctorate Programme of The Institut of the Peace and the Conflicts of the University of Granada, Spain, directed by Francisco A. Muñoz, and defended on the 25th of September 2008. The paper offers theoretical elements on the meanings and characteristics of civil resistance, reflects the main contributions of peace research in the expressions of civil resistance in Colombia, and characterises these experiences as resistances for peace.
