Mucho se ha escrito sobre el sistema de valores basado en el honor y la vergüenza en el mundo circum-mediterráneo desde que Peristiany, Pitt-Rivers y otros comenzaron a ocu`parse del tema en 1956. Como señala Peristtiany, estudiar este sistema de valores permite conocer el marco fundamental de una sociedad en cuanto entidad.
