Abstract

Musical Accredited studies are generally not aimed at adult learners in conservatories. The limited number of vacant posts and the regulations that prioritise available places for children from 8 years old are the reasons that cause a lack of opportunities for adults.

In the conservatory of Ceuta, due to a decrease in children's enrolment during a certain period, the vacant posts remained available and so the conservatory offered a new prospect for adults with an interest in music.

This fact has enabled the teaching of musical accredited studies to adults for five years, obtaining a successful and very satisfactory response from both learners and teachers.

With this text we intend to show the remarkable/exceptional case that takes place in the Professional Conservatory of Music of Ceuta, analysing the reasons and effects that this type of education produces/causes in the whole educational community, and to demonstrate the benefits of cultural expansion and give continuity to an education as specific as music as it happens at other educational levels.
