Abstract

The autonomy principle, administration and management of education establishments in Portugal, submitted the administration of schools to a set of principles, namely the democratic participation of all stakeholders in the educational process and the representation in the administration organs and school management.

With this system of school management, the non-teacher workers began to take a more active role, through their presence in the management bodies of the school, in addition to the functions that they develop in the context of their functional contents as senior technicians, technical assistants and operating assistants, which include the contribution for vocational training, welfare and safety of students, cooperation with members of the educational community in the educational process and detecting situations that require urgent intervention or correction.

We propose to demonstrate how we can get a better exploitation of these workers, if integrated in multidisciplinary teams to achieve greater academic success in schools in Portugal.
