Abstract
Resilience, as a strategy of promoting mental health, develops human capacity in the face of adversity. The objective of this study is to determine the effect of participation in psychosocial workshops for the promotion of resilience in schoolchildren aged 10 to 17 years in a Colombian municipality. This is a quasi-experimental study, with a convenience sample of 54 students, to whom the JJ46 questionnaire was applied; the Wilcoxon and McNemar tests were used to assess the effect of the intervention, which had positive effects on the acquisition of resilient skills in the dimensions of assertiveness, affectivity, and critical thinking, in all grades of study. A positive and significant change, from moderate or mild to high, in overall resilience was observed before and after the 33 psychosocial workshops. We believe that this intervention should be promoted and implemented in schoolchildren because of its positive effects.
