Abstract

This paper is about an immersion into MAR – the Museu de Arte do Rio, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The institution was founded in 2013, as school museum. Plunge into MAR was an attempt to understand how a museum can produces connection between art and education. This study takes the MAREAR chart, to point of view cartographic, as a methodological procedure. The results of this investigation have contributed to the understanding that inventive gallery education practices designed by museum educators/ mediators may produce new teaching and learning experiences. Furthermore, they helped us regard the museum as a porous space that can produce involvements of gallery education and learning with its visitors, whether they are teachers, or other people. Finally, it should be highlighted that this research was supported by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES, by its acronym in Portuguese), Brazil.
