Abstract

Socioeconomic and territorial changes occurred in recent decades in the province of Seville have caused many municipalities depend mainly the labor market of the capital of Seville or some of its urban cores, as Alcalá de Guadaíra or Dos Hermanas. This new socioeconomic context has met generally with the inadequacy of public transport to the needs of the users.

Given these problems, the different administrations are promoting the diversification of the current public transport options, incorporating more environmentally friendly options, such as heavy rail, underground or tram. It also advocates to the combined use of different modes of transport, in which walking and cycling are the basis of displacement, completed mainly by the different modes by train and by bus. Means collectives that are suitable to decongest major roads and to cover routes that are regularly used by large population groups.
