Abstract
On the reasons of the underdevelopment of the South of Spain: the role of the agriculture. In Spain, in the 19th century, the Agrarian Liberal Reform should have supposed the transition towards an agrarian capitalism in the field. Nevertheless what was generated was a backward capitalism, based on the system of «payment in work» or semifeudally. The aim is to contribute a few first conclusions that show that one of the reasons of the current underdevelopment of the South of Spain (Andalusia and Estremadura) must be searched in the incomplete culmination of the agrarian capitalism in these regions.
