Abstract

There is a close symbiosis between Urbanism, Territorial Planning, Economy, Local Development and Environment. That relationship is little studied and valued, perhaps because of the ignorance of the positive consequences of the correct urbanism, against bad practices, much more striking for the public. That explains the word «vilified» in the title of this paper. Certainly, the magnitude of urbanism projects and the urban growth models and planning (concentrated / diffused) are essential to identify and to assess environmental sustainability of urban promotions and, therefore, general urban and regional planning.

So, this time, and using my experience in local public management, I want to emphasize the positive and enormous possibilities of the urbanism, evidently, regardless of the sustainability grade of the territorial models selected or the efficiency of the urbanism management.
