Abstract
The concept of citizen participation has become today a prominent role in the debate on how to understand and implement the public policies both in the range of possibilities that is recognized in the regulatory system and by the uncertainties, contradictions and conflicts it generated. Also identified as one of the pillars underpinning the approaches to the gouvernance and integrated and sustainable spatial planning, it is interpreted in terms of different modes of exercice that is susceptible and the results obtained in a open and changing scenario of the goals, experiences and styles of government in the local scales of action. The knowledge and the assessment of specific initiatives for participation in the framework of the strategic cooperation of the cities of Valladolid and Palencia brings significant ideas about a subject as complex and controversial as interesting from a territorial perspective.
