The following article is a comparative study of contemporary migration at the external borders of countries within regional integration processes. Its purpose is to reflect on the current border reconfigurations due to these processes. Therefore this paper examines the integration policies and mechanisms that reveal the transformation of the traditional boundarie,s through the comparison of extra-regional migration policies among three paradigmatic regional processes (EU: European Union, NAFTA Free Trade Agreement of North America and MERCOSUR: Common Market of South America), exploring these new frontiers from the perspective of regional policies on human mobility and the nacional contexts in which they take place.
