Abstract

A proper consideration of the spatial problem of environmental inequality provides elements for formulating appropriate policies to mitigate these inequalities. Therefore the development and use of indices is increasingly necessary to understand and properly size issues linked to the welfare of the population. In this paper, we apply an environmental quality Index (EQI) composed of twenty-three variables grouped into three dimensions known as: a) nature-based recreation resources b) socially constructed resources and c) environmental problems to the Cuyo region (Argentina) at a department (municipal) scale.
