Abstract

The map of Córdoba of 1884 is the direct output of a series of official regulations enforced during the mid-19 th Century. These were aimed at giving guidance and a tool —the planos de alineaciones— that would aid the design of general urban planning in Spain. In most cases, however, the plans were not fully developed and remained as documents representing the urban situation of the cities in that moment. In this article, the situation of the city of Córdoba during the second half of the 19 th Century is presented and the process of awarding the planning project is analysed, as well as who its authors were and what were its results and impacts.
