Abstract

This study is part of a new and broader research called «Noise pollution in the cities of Andalusia», whose main purpose was to evaluate and publicize the alarming noise situation existing in urban Andalusia. This study is an innovation with respect to the traditional methods for measuring noise, which were based on the use of physical variables (decibels), replacing them with the studies of urban noise impact on people and its perception by society. In the broader research an analytical study of three major databases has been carried out. The first consists of the Census Variables of houses with noise (I.N.E. 2001). The second is based on Noise Pollution Complaints filed in the last ten years in the Councils of the cities of Andalusia. And the third is formed by information from two Survey Processes applied to the Group of Urban Andalusians and of Professionals and Technicians, related to environment noise matters in Andalusia.
