Abstract

The geography of the Colombian air transport and airport system has been greatly influenced by the development experienced industry from liberalization in the early nineties. Public policies that followed the liberalization of the industry contributed, in the first place, that the airport network was modernized and expanded at almost all of Colombian geography inhabited, and secondly, these policies led to a dynamic development and growth of movement air passengers to many of the regions of the country, creating a true network structure of the air transport system. This research work describes and analyzes such as liberalization, through public policies, contributed, and it does today, to the geographical configuration of air transport explaining further their development and dynamics.
