Abstract

In the manuscript we research the modes that Río Negro Province, in Argentina, was draw since its formation, in 1958, to the cup d’etat in 1976. We frame our study about the territorial schemes and province maps in the previous ways of delineate Patagonian territories. We search the different perspectives, tensions and dynamics that impacted the province configuration. These elements allow us to recognize the temporary nature of graphic representation of territories. They also show the pretension of objectivity and neutrality of them, evidencing the political feature of territorial comprehension which was reflected in the ways of draw the space.

As a result, between 1958 to 1976, we found that the different provincial administrations will justified an unequal policy of distribution using a geographical speech, which was presented substantiated the establishment of internal differences.
