Applied Climatology of Tourism in the face of the dynamics of coastal-interior complementarity: the province of Granada as a study base
Main Article Content
Abstract
Tourism activity is characterized by being a sector in continuous change with the appearance of contemporary trends, so Applied Tourism Climatology —as a science that studies the relationship between this activity and the climate— must adapt to these changes. At present, there is a boom in the demand for destinations with different tourist activities, called dynamics of complementarity of tourist activity. From this study, new methods are proposed that assess the potential of the climate as a tourist resource in these complementary spaces —in this case, coastal-interior— through the implementation of different climatic-tourist indices adapted to the characteristics of each modality of tourism. The objective is to offer an effective tool that allows tourism to be planned in these spaces, considering the potential of the climate as a tourist resource. The results demonstrate the need for this type of study due to the divergence between the different climate-tourism aptitude models that can occur between the diverse types of tourism in these spaces.
