Strategies for Restoration of Heritage and Cultural Landscape in a Medium-Sized City: the Case of Yecla (Murcia)

Abstract
In recent years, essentially since 2000, the date on which it was published in the city of Florence called “European Landscape Convention”, so-called “cultural landscapes” has acquired a leading position in the strategies, policies and processes recovery and transformation of cities. Through direct observation or fieldwork, document retrieval, management of data from various data sources and the study of urban policy, analyze the case of Yecla (Murcia), average city which houses an important cultural heritage, which until recent decades has been little considered what has resulted in the degradation and loss of much of the same as well as a unique cultural landscape.
This article will reveal the urban characteristics and factors that have contributed to the onset of relevant projects that are affecting the financial recovery of archaeological, civil and religious landmark buildings as well as a major economic investment by public institutions, but still remain unfinished projects due to lack of funding public or interest if the benefit is not relevant.
