Abstract

Linear landscapes are regional representations along a path, which highlights the spatial variation of objects and phenomena. In this work we show the thematic profile history, emphasizing those dedicated to the representation of vegetation, land use and landscape. Profile are represented as schemes or drawing the objects in a figurative way. Symbols used for the representation of objects are based on the association from reality and constitute one of the singularities of the representation system. They can be either evocative from reality or communicative due to the use of conventional representation. Lineal landscapes are greatly communicative due to the representation of the reality in a horizontal perspective, which results in a frontal view from the observer’s point.  Several examples of lineal landscapes representations, combining a variety of symbols are presented. The result is a synthetic and global image from reality at different scales.
