Exploración sobre las migraciones internas en las provincias y los municipios de Cuba (1995-1997 y 1998-2000)

Abstract

This article analyzes internal migrations in Cuba based upon two territorial scales: provincial and municipal. The analysis rely on the comparisons of the dynamic migrations over the periods 1995-1997 and 1998-2000. The breaking point two justify those periods is 1997, when the Act 217 regulates the temporal or permanent entry in La Habana and, in particular, in Habana Vieja, Centro Habana, Cerro y 10 de Octubre. Some of the results of this research suggest that there is some evidence of a restrictive process to the entry of emigrants to the capital that may cause a change to other territories that previously were not considered or less considered as a destiny. The statistical sources employed have been the Estadísticas Continuas from 1995 to 2000 (National Statistical Office and Demographic Yearbook of the National Statistical Office).
