Abstract

This work talks about the evolution of the tourism offer in the city of Cáceres in the period between 2010 and 2019. The point of departure for this is the hypothesis that it has concentrated on the figure of tourist apartments, with the consequent effects on the rehabilitation of housing and refunctionalization of the area within the historic centre. The results obtained corroborate the initial hypothesis, confirming how the figure of tourist apartments has grown exponentially in recent years, while the rest of accommodation has even decreased. In addition, it has been confirmed that the increase in apartments has had a series of positive effects and generated a strong controversy among residents in the area under study.
