Abstract

The landscapes of the majority of the european  mountains have known for one century of very fast and spectacular dynamics, which continue and often accelerate today. the installation of landscape observatories based on the method of repeat photography became a tool for the monitoring of the landscape evolutions. this  article underlines the need for adapting the method of photo-comparison to a specific research on the landscape. We propose a «landscape photographic approach» finalized according to objectives of fundamental and applied research: study of the landscape evolutions and processes, effects in the time and on the territory, but also aid to the local actors for decision-making and landscape public policies.
