Resumen

El ailanto (Ailanthus altissima (Mill.) Swingle) es una de las especies exóticas invasoras más extendida a escala global. Su principal distribución está relacionada con ambientes antropizados, donde las concentraciones en suelo de elementos (metales pesados o elementos traza) pueden ser tóxicas para otros organismos vegetales. El ailanto tiene la capacidad de bioacumular estos contaminantes en sus tejidos vegetales (hojas). Se ha empleado esta especie para analizar el factor bioconcentración en diferentes ambientes antropizados (escombreras, vías de comunicación y zonas verdes) así como espacios naturalizados en la región de Madrid. También se han analizado las estrategias de Ailanthus altissima para los diferentes compuestos analizados en suelo. Los resultados indican que Ailanthus altissima absorbe del suelo una gran cantidad de elementos tóxicos de procedencia antrópica. En este sentido, la especie podría emplearse como fitorremediadora de espacios con suelos contaminados, como sucede en regiones de China.
