Explorando la identidad de las nuevas élites políticas españolas: Ciudadanos y Podemos

Abstract

Podemos and Ciudadanos publicly pronounce a new conception of politics. This research explores the collective identities of political elites of the state representatives of both parties. In the current crisis of legitimacy of institutions and a differentiated social profile of news institutional politicians, new actors may respond differently to how to be political elite, how the identity of an institutional politician is conformed, how representation is conceived or, for example, the position of the political elites towards society and democracy. This study has performed an analysis of discourse on utterances produced in-depth interviews with representatives of Podemos and Ciudadanos. We have explored how the identity of political elites is constructed, and how it is used as a resource for political action and discourse.
