Abstract

This paper covers an experience at the Instituto Técnico Obrero  Empresarial Don Bosco during the beginning of the musical activity of the institution and the results and the subsequent path marked this initial activity. For a month we worked with all levels of education ministered at this institution to introduce the students to the world of music, but from the specific aim of enhancing their creativity as future entrepreneurs and improve their personal culture. Ultimately, this approach to music was promoted as an attempt to get creative entrepreneurs while human beings open to the beauty of artistic expression as an enriching activity, motivating and softening of character and conduct. This first step was the beginning of what is now the Orquesta Sinfónica Juvenil Don Bosco and the Conservatorio Nacional Don Bosco, institutions which contribute not only to save the younger Salvadorans from the violence that accompanies their lives but which also allow teacher’ training on values and a specific methodology for their teaching contributions to reduce violence that thousands of children in the most marginalized areas of the capital suffer daily.
